Post Project: How to Ensure Salesforce Success

Now that your Salesforce system is up and running, here are a few suggestions to help you get the most out of your CRM investment:

1. Track user adoption

We have created a special dashboard where you can monitor user activity. You can track how often users are logging into the system, or whether they are completing their tasks. Use this to identify certain users to spend extra time with and make sure they understand: 1) why Salesforce is essential to the organisation 2) What’s in it for them 3) the future roadmap and possibilities.

2. Run your meetings from dashboards

Using the instant insights from dashboards is a great way to involve the whole team on your performance. Walk through each of the dashboard graphs each week and ask what is happening here and what actions do we need to take. You can also set up individual dashboards and work through them in one on one sessions with staff.

For more help & training on Dashboards, go to: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/modules/reports_dashboards

3. Implement Chatter for effective collaboration

Chatter is an excellent way to increase user interaction and collaboration in real-time, transforming your organisation into its own social network. It can help speed adoption and drive productivity inside of Salesforce. It should replace one to one emails with a place for the whole team to collaborate.

For more help & training on Chatter, go to: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/modules/chatter

4. Empower your Users with Mobile

With the Salesforce mobile app (Salesforce1) your users can get all the vital information they need fast, wherever they go.

Download it on IOS and on the Android App Store: https://www.salesforce.com/solutions/mobile/app/

5. Find answers on the Salesforce success community

The Salesforce success community  is a one-stop resource center where you can ask questions, find resources and connect with employees, experts and other users in the Salesforce community

Login to the community at https://success.salesforce.com/

Salesforce also has a very comprehensive and well organised training program called Trailhead. You may want to upskill some of your admin staff so that they can get to know the functionality of Salesforce and make small changes or tweaks to optimize the system as your needs evolve.

To access Salesforce Trailhead, go to https://trailhead.salesforce.com

6. Salesforce support

We recommend utilising the community as much as possible. But, if you have a particular struggle with your Salesforce org you can contact Salesforce by clicking on the ‘?’ at the top right of the screen and then ‘Get support’.

7.Let your users be heard

Set up a regular one or two month catch up with all users on your team to identify key issues or problems with user adoption. Use Asana to track requests, questions and ideas for your team.

Winter 18 Release Notes

As you should know Salesforce is regularly updated to keep it as the world’s most innovative and advanced CRM. Three times a year they release a major update. In October they are making a major release and you will see some changes when you use Salesforce.

There are thousands of exciting changes happening in the background all of which you can view here. Here is a summary of some of the key changes that may impact you:

New look and feel

  • Background  – You will notice that the layout has been improved to reduce ‘snow blindness’. There is now less glaring white on the screen and each component is framed in a darker background
  • Conditional Components – parts of the screen (not individual components) can be hidden or shown depending on the stage or field attributes of a record

More Dashboard Functionality

  • You can also add tables to dashboards with up to ten columns.
  • You can add dashboards straight onto the home screen or other pages

Lightning Report Builder (Beta)

At the moment when you build reports it takes you to an out of date looking drag and drop report building tool. Good news Salesforce have developed a better looking tool that is even more intuitive to use. At this stage you must opt into using this tool by changing some settings and permissions.  See https://releasenotes.docs.salesforce.com/en-us/winter18/release-notes/rn_rd_reports_lightning_report_builder.htm

Improved Lead Conversion

  • If you are using and converting leads then it’s now even easier to create and match to existing accounts, contacts and opportunities

Google Calendar Integration

This has been available in a limited form for over a year. But, it finally will do proper two way synchronisation better events in Salesforce and events on your calendar.

Many improvements to the user experience

  • Branded Communities – You can set up different brands and colors for your communities based on each partner
  • Mass editing from custom views – Edit multiple records at once straight from the related list (does not include related lists)
  • Merge Person Accounts – You can now merge person accounts from the person account screen. You do not need to use the quick link we created for you on your home screen
  • Better search – search now includes better spelling correction
  • Skype integration – if you use Skype for business it can now be integrated into Salesforce (there are some delays on the roll out of voice calls with Microsoft)
  • Better Einstein Ai – Ai is getting more tightly integrated across the Salesforce platforms
  • Longer Internet Explorer Support – Your users should be using a modern browser such as Chrome, Firefox or Microsfot Edge. If you have users on Internet Explorer you can opt in to keep support until 2020
  • More tools to integrate – Salesforce is the king of integration and they are making it quicker and easier for partners to integrate other systems
